Bernd “Bernie” Ronnisch was more than the founder of Ronnisch Construction Group. He was its heart. In 1994, Bernie established the company with a vision that reached beyond business. For him, building was never just about structures; it was about creating opportunities, uplifting people, and strengthening communities. He built Ronnisch Construction Group into not only a trusted partner in construction, but also a place where people could grow, learn, and find purpose. Bernie was a visionary leader, a generous mentor, and a lifelong friend to many. He inspired those around him with his integrity, his wisdom, and his genuine belief in the potential of others. Under his guidance, generations of construction professionals found their footing, advanced their careers, and discovered what it meant to lead with both excellence and heart. His influence extended well beyond the company. Bernie dedicated himself to service, giving his time and energy to organizations such as the Metro Detroit Youth Club, The Judson Center, and the Robert A. Schuele Scholarship. Through his commitment to volunteering, he left an indelible mark on countless lives across Metro Detroit. Bernie’s legacy continues to shape who we are today. The values he instilled in us, including integrity, collaboration, care for community, and belief in people, remain the foundation of Ronnisch Construction Group. Every project we take on and every relationship we build reflects his spirit and vision.
As Bernie often reminded us, “Do it right or don’t do it at all.” This simple but powerful philosophy continues to guide our work and the way we show up for our clients, partners, and each other.
We are proud to carry forward the company he started, honoring his legacy in the work we do and the communities we serve.
