JRC Deepens Its Detroit Roots with New Office in Capitol Park

Detroit has been part of Jarbou Ronnisch Construction’s story for more than 30 years. With more than 80 projects totaling over 1 million square feet across the city, our team has helped clients turn plans into places where people work, live and do business.

Now, we’re making an investment of our own.

JRC has acquired 1265 Griswold Street, a historic building in downtown Detroit’s Capitol Park neighborhood, from Bedrock. The acquisition marks an expansion of our Detroit presence and a long-term commitment to the city, our clients and the community we’re proud to help build.

An Historic Address for Our Next Chapter

Built in 1897 and designed by Detroit architectural firm Spier & Rohns, the six-story, 35,000-square-foot building has a history rooted in the city’s growth and change.

Bedrock purchased the property in 2013, and renovations by Neumann Smith Architects helped transform the once-vacant building into a distinctive downtown office address. Today, it is a multi-tenant property whose tenants include Gensler.

JRC will occupy approximately 6,000 square feet on the fourth floor, with a move anticipated in the second quarter of 2027. We also plan to invest $3 million to $4 million in capital improvements, including facade renovations and tenant build-outs.

For our team, the opportunity to care for a historic property while preparing it for its next chapter makes this investment especially meaningful.

An Investment That Reflects Our Commitment

“JRC has been literally and figuratively invested in Detroit for our more than 30-year history,” said Frank Jarbou, owner and principal of Jarbou Ronnisch Construction. “We’ve done more than 80 projects in the city, totaling over 1 million square feet. We looked at a lot of possibilities for this move, and we certainly could have leased space. But we’re committed to Detroit, we wanted our investment to reflect that. It was the right time, the right building and the right neighborhood for us to double down in the city.”

Purchasing 1265 Griswold gives us an opportunity to deepen that commitment as both a construction partner and a property owner. Alongside our Royal Oak office, the new space will support our continued work with clients throughout Southeast Michigan and the Midwest while strengthening our connection to downtown Detroit.

Becoming Part of the Neighborhood

Capitol Park’s historic architecture, local businesses and active downtown setting make it an exciting place for our team’s next chapter. We look forward to getting to know our neighbors and contributing to a district that has seen significant investment and renewal.

“Every city we build in adds to the identity of who we are as a construction company,” Jarbou said. “Expanding our business footprint in Detroit is about more than having an office here. It’s about deepening our connection and becoming an even greater part of the city our team is building every single day.”

JRC will serve as the building’s owner and landlord, with our sister company, Symmetry Management, serving as property manager.

We’ll share updates as improvements take shape and we prepare for our 2027 move. We’re proud to be part of Detroit’s future—and excited to make Capitol Park our new home in the city.
