The Project

In downtown Detroit, with the continued growth and development in and around the Fox Theatre, Comerica Park, and the construction of Little Caesars Arena, St. John’s Episcopal Church – Detroit felt it appropriate to expand their facility and bring new life to the historic church. With design by Hobbs + Black, St. John’s called on Ronnisch Construction Group to add 13,000 sf of building, make numerous improvements to the existing facilities, and create a new pathway and drive area adjacent to improvements in the area. Originally built in the late 1850s, St. John’s is on both the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a Michigan State Historic Site. Ronnisch Construction Group’s work was in keeping with the original construction designed in the great and classic – Victorian Gothic Revival Architectural style.

The Project

Ronnisch Construction Group was privileged to be selected as the Construction Manager for St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church’s expansion and renovation in Troy, Michigan. The church embarked on major facility improvements that included the addition of a 3,000 sf community/youth center, the renovation of two office/meeting room wings on either side of the new construction area, and a 2,800 sf expansion for storage and operational elements. The community center features a dramatic wood-lam timber structure, creating an open and inviting area. Other improvements include new areas for linen storage, a new walk-in cooler, and other associated storage areas. The space also included showcase millwork, new flooring, wall treatment, and lighting elements.

Our Lady Queen of Martyrs

The Project

When Our Lady Queen of Martyrs sought to make major improvements to their worship area, narthex, and ancillary areas, they chose Ronnisch Construction Group to provide Construction Management services. In close cooperation with the Church hierarchy, Ronnisch Construction Group completely re-furbished the primary worship areas of the Church facilities. The work included the removal, refurbishment, and reinstallation of the pews, the re-work of the stair systems leading to the altar, demolition of the flooring systems, and the demo and re-work of the ceiling systems. Replacement materials included new chandeliers, track lighting, and down lights, hard tile and carpet throughout the area, a new lighting control system, and other paint and finish upgrades. Unique features included the installation of a full-length marble wall treatment, upgrades to the mother’s room, ushers’ room, restroom facilities, candle room, and library. Other improvements included new baptismal fonts and statue stands, completing the upgraded altar area.
